Can compliance software make me compliant?
It can collect your evidence. It cannot operate your controls. That difference is where teams get hurt. The AICPA's own guidance describes these tools as improving the efficiency of preparing for an examination. It also notes that vendors who are not CPA firms cannot attest to anything. Software watches systems, gathers records and tracks tasks. That is real work removed. What it does not do is make a control exist. Your auditor still tests the control. Your customer still reads the report. Ask what a tool observes, and what it infers. That gap is where a green dashboard and a failing control live together.
